A Summer of Recovery at Iron PT Midland Park
Each month, Iron Physical Therapy highlights a special patient to tell their inspiring story. We want to honor people who go all in - body, mind and spirit. They show us what’s possible - that you can move on from a setback to do amazing things...to challenge your body, to chase your dreams, to address future pain in a healthy way to #getbetterbebetter. When this patient got knocked down, she got right back up!
A trip and fall during vacation sure put a damper on Holly’s summer plans, but this good spirited and highly positive woman never stopped smiling when she got to PT!
Holly spent summer days at Iron strengthening her body and becoming more flexible. She didn’t let surgery cancel her summer, but instead adapted and kept on going.
- Dr. Marnie Wortman, DPT
In Holly’s Own Words…
1) List Three Words to Describe You:
Mindful, Grateful, Optimistic
2) What Brought You Into Physical Therapy?
I came to PT after a bad fall required me to have surgery. I had an elbow and knee injury!
3) How would you describe physical therapy?
I would describe physical therapy as an important treatment plan that helps to manage movement and pain. After my injury…I wouldn’t have my life back without it!
4) What exercise or technique helped you the most?
For me, it is difficult to pick a particular technique. What I really like about working with Dr. Wortman is that we use several different techniques and discuss how I am feeling afterwards and what works best. Using the bands has really helped to strengthen my arm and the heat and massage has really helped with my flexibility.
5) What would you say to someone who is living in pain and putting off physical therapy?
Physical therapy is hard work and you have to be committed to your recovery, but why choose to live in pain! I can’t recommend PT highly enough!
6) What are you excited to get back to after physical therapy?
I am excited to get back to my Orange Theory classes, paddle boarding and riding my bike.
6) What did you enjoy most about the physical therapy experience?
I was very nervous about beginning PT because I wasn’t sure what to expect. Beginning with my first appointment, everyone at Iron PT was so kind and caring. They put me at ease and I really felt cared for in all ways. Dr. Wortman, Kim and Chris always make me smile and are committed to help in anyway with my recovery.
