Coming Back from Injury and Setbacks with Resilience
Maybe your word of the year could be Resilience!
You'll find lots of inspiration from my powerful interview last month with guest Rachel Wyman.
Some of you might know her as Montclair Bread owner, Fueled by Doughnuts leader, or fierce mother runner. If you haven't already, make some time to be inspired by Rachel to take on 2021 with humor and perseverance.
I was lucky enough to personally witness Rachel's fierce comeback from a major cycling injury in 2018, and then again when she quickly maneuvered her small business through COVID.
During our December interview, I was inspired all over again by her real and transparent story...
"I remember asking my surgeon about PT at my first post-op visit. He said that I could go but there was really no point because I couldn’t do anything yet….but I made an appointment in the car right after I got out of his office to come into Iron.
My first visit, I came in in a wheelchair and you had to help me on the table. It was so helpful being able to go somewhere other than my house, do these exercises with supervision, and MOVING - the more I moved, the better I felt. Even if it was just moving my foot side to side, any movement at all was the key to how I was able to recover from this."
Whether you're in the middle of your recovery journey, looking to take on new challenges in the new year, or just need a little pick-me-up to get you started on a positive foot this year - I highly recommend watching her interview here.
