Shoulder Pain? 3 Important Things To Avoid

If you’re working on healthier shoulders this year, small daily habits matter more than most people realize.

In Dr. Mayes’ video above, he breaks down three common mistakes that can quietly lead to shoulder pain, and how to fix them.

Here’s the quick version:

1. Don’t lift with your arms out in front of you.
Holding objects far from your body puts extra strain on your shoulders and neck. Keep your elbows close, engage your back and core, and pull items in toward you when lifting.

2. Don’t twist and reach from your car seat.
Reaching into the back seat without turning your body overloads the front of your shoulder. Instead, rotate first, then reach to reduce strain.

3. Don’t slump at your desk.
Rounded shoulders and a forward head position close off space in the shoulder and increase injury risk. Sit tall, keep your shoulder blades down and back, and let your arms rest comfortably.

These small adjustments can make a big difference in how your shoulders feel day to day.
